The issue with a government mandated back door, is that even without focusing on implementing that, every company is struggling to keep data secure. Beyond that, many back doors have been discovered. Unlike a security firm hacking the device, a government backdoor is an intentional security flaw that you can't do anything about, even if abused. You will be at the mercy of a slow bureaucracy before you can legally deal with abuse of the backdoor.
